Meet Elisha, our Youth Director
Although Elisha has lived in South Jersey all her life she did not realize our church was the right one for her until June 2000.
”When I had my second child in October 2001, I was still somewhat involved in my previous church,” she explained, “but it was Rev. (John) Shedwick who was in the hospital visiting with and praying with me. How could I not be with this church?”
Elisha was introduced to our congregation by helping her mother-in-law complete various church projects. Once she joined, her experience as an assistant preschool director, a youth director and a Sunday school teacher at her former church made her a natural to become our youth director in 2002.
”Through World Vision's 30-Hour Famine, we have raised nearly $10,000 to help end world hunger,” she said of her work with our junior and senior youth groups. “If I never accomplish anything else, I know that I will have instilled in my students a love for humanity and their role in taking care of everyone in need. My students are a constant source of pride, humor and love. Each year, they give me a new purpose for this world and are happy to go on the journey with me.”
Elisha holds a bachelor of arts degree in English, with a concentration in secondary education and psychology, which she earned at Glassboro State College, now Rowan University. After college, she worked for a large corporation for seven years and is a Zenger-Miller-certified corporate trainer.
