COMMUNITY TREATMENT SOLUTIONS
"Community Treatment Solutions, Inc., (CTS) is a non-profit organization incorporated on March 26, 1990. CTS was initially created as an outgrowth of the Division of Youth and Family Services' search for a "better way" to serve the needs of abused and neglected children and adolescents who had exhausted every existing avenue of intervention and were facing expensive out-of-community residential placement. Additional intensive treatment and trauma assessment programs for at-risk youth have been added to CTS' programs since 1990. CTS now provides a continuum of care addressing the behavioral needs of youth across New Jersey. "

SEEDS OF HOPE MINISTRIES

Volunteer Help Desperately Needed: Seeds of Hope Ministries recently opened a thrift store--Hope Thrift--on the White Horse Pike in Somerdale to help support its ministry efforts in Camden.  They are in great need of people to help in the store… sorting clothing and other items, cleaning donated items up, running the register, etc.  If you would like to serve Seeds of Hope in this way, please contact the store manager, Kim Miller, at the store @ 856-504-3646 or by email at SOHMdonations@gmail.com.

"Seeds of Hope Ministries is the umbrella organization for three ministries that have operated within the City of Camden, NJ for many years. South Jersey Aftercare, which has been in existence since 1998, is an ex-offender reentry ministry for men and women returning from prison. We seek to facilitate the transformation of prisoners and their reconciliation to God, family, and community through our weekly programs, transitional housing and most importantly, the power and truth of Jesus Christ. My Father's Hands, an outreach ministry to people who find themselves on the streets of Camden (homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics, lost), has been serving people on the street since 2003. Our desire is that they will not only be clothed and fed, but that they will be receptive to the Good News of the Gospel.  She Has A Name, which had its beginnings in 2005, is a specific outreach to the ladies who find themselves in bondage to drugs and eventual prostitution. We share practical care and the unconditional love of Christ with these women who walk the streets of inner city Camden.
Through many volunteers and the provision of individual donations, we are able to reach out to the least, the last and the lost with love, compassion and tangible help that comes in countless forms. We consider it a joy and a privilege to care for individuals that the world would prefer to ignore or kick to the curb. Our mission and vision is to see lives changed by the Gospel for the glory of God."

CATHEDRAL KITCHEN

"The mission of the Cathedral Kitchen is to provide essential life services that support the health and well being of those in our community and, in doing so, to affirm each person’s humanity and dignity while guiding them towards self sufficiency.

Founded in 1976 by four altruistic young people, for over three decades the Cathedral Kitchen has been serving meals to the poor and hungry of Camden. What began as a simple ministry offering soup and sandwiches to a few people in need has grown into the largest emergency food provider in the city. "

Crop Walk
Sunday, May 22, 2011
This year, we had about fifty walkers, just from our church. Those walkers contributed $3493 in donations (including $460 in reported on-line donations). A big thank you to all the walkers, helpers, and donors for helping make it such a big success. What a difference we helped to make in our community and worldwide!

Michael, Kim, Kay, Sue and John recently volunteered their help at Cathedral Kitchen
Notes from the Mission Committee

On December 29th Michele Elliot, Kim DiNoia, Alexandria Yates, (our granddaughter) Megan Pierson (also our granddaughter) and Joe Rafferty (a family friend) all went up to Cathedral Kitchen to serve the evening meal. They really enjoyed the experience. This is Kim's third time to go there - and she loves it. Joe mentioned to us that this experience put his whole life into perspective.
As always, we look forward to this heart-warming way of serving others.  We will be going four times again next year - usually on a Monday.  If any of you are interested, please contact me - Kay Pierson.

Walter and I (Kay) recently went to the Seeds of Hope thrift shop on the White Horse Pike in Somerdale, NJ.  It is called Hope Thrift and we were very impressed with the beautiful items for sale at a really low price and the orderliness of the store.  Kim Miller is the store manager and the day we were in there she had three family members helping her.  They are in great need of people to help in the store .... sorting clothing and other items, cleaning donated items and running the register.  They also need customers!!!!  If you would like to help the Seeds of Ministries in this way please call Kim Miller at 856-504-3646.
